Honoring the Secretary-General of the World Organization for Human Rights in Kurdistan with the Humanity Medal and Recognizing Him as the 2021 Humanitarian Figure of the Year
On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, the International Peace Guardians Organization (I.P.U) honored several distinguished individuals, including Ambassador Ali Khalil, Secretary-General of the World Organization for Human Rights (WSA). The recognition took place during an international conference held in Kurdistan, where Ambassador Khalil was awarded the 2021 Humanitarian Figure of the Year title.
The conference, organized by I.P.U in collaboration with the United Nations Office (U.N), commemorated World Human Rights Day, as declared by the U.N General Assembly. It welcomed prominent figures, including the U.N Office Director in Erbil, former Speaker of Parliament, Arab and foreign ambassadors, judges, human rights organization leaders, and newly elected MPs, along with recently released innocent detainees and their families.
Conference Highlights:
- The opening session included a recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha and the playing of the national anthem.
- Dr. Iyad Al-Fatlawi, President of I.P.U, delivered a keynote speech, expressing gratitude to attendees and stressing the importance of human rights laws and principles.
- The U.N Office Director presented a speech on behalf of Secretary-General António Guterres, emphasizing the core values and objectives of human rights.
- Bashdar Hassan, Vice President of I.P.U Kurdistan, along with other international human rights leaders, addressed the assembly. The event featured remarks from the former Speaker of Parliament, newly elected MPs, legal experts, and media representatives.
Honors & Recognition:
At the conclusion of the conference, outstanding figures were recognized for their humanitarian work. Ambassador Ali Khalil was named Humanitarian Figure of the Year for his 30+ years of dedication to human rights, aiding the poor, orphans, and those in need globally.
He was presented with the Golden Global Humanity Medal and an official certificate from the International Peace & Humanity Ambassadors Club, awarded by Ambassadors Iyad Al-Fatlawi and Ahmed Al-Nuaimi.
This recognition celebrates his lifelong commitment to fostering peace, dignity, and social justice worldwide.
